We have the pride that our University is in the name of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. On the eve of 125th Birth Anniversary (2015) of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, under the visionary guidance of our Vice-chancellor, the Department of Music, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, is creating an innovative and magnificent Musical activity named as Geet Bheemayan, for the first time in the history of our country. In this project 100 selected songs of Mahakavi Wamandada Kardak are set in tune on the basis of Indian Classical Music so as to constitute the complete Musical biography of Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar which is the great source of inspiration for all of us.

Almost all renowned classical vocalists, playback singers and artists of our country are involved in structuring this beautiful and magnificent Musical activity. Pt.Suresh Wadkar, Padmashri Kavita Krushnamurti, Padmashri Hariharan, Sadhana Sargam, Ravindra Sathe, Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, Shubha Joshi, Arati Ankalikar, Sawani Shende-Sathaye, Bela Shende, Manjusha Patil have rendered their voices in the completed 50 songs. Besides this, Padmashri Vijay Ghate has performed the Tabla accompaniment for the 20 songs of Geet Bheemayan. In the forthcoming schedule we are planning to record the remaining songs in the voices of Padmvibhushan Asha Bhosale, Ghazal Maestro Pankaj Udhas, Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota, Mukul Shivputra, Sonu Nigam, Kailash Kher, Alka Yagnik, Ustad Ahmad and Mohammad Hussain, Ashwini Bhide- Deshpande, Devaki Pandit, Shankar Mahadevan, Shounak Abhisheki and many more renowned artists of classical and folk Music.

Dr. Sanjay Mohad, Co-ordinator, Geet Bheemayan, S.B.E.S. College of Arts and commerce, Aurangabad and Coordinator, Department of Music, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad has composed and directed the Music for all 100 songs. Veteran Musician and Music arranger Shri.Narendra Bhide, Dawn Infotainment Studio, Pune is arranging the Music for this project. The students of Music department are performing the chorus with the renowned artists for all songs in this project. Hence, this is purely an academic and student centric Musical activity run by any University for the first time in the history of our country. The artist of Marathwada Dr. Girish Kale (Flute), Shri. Pankaj Shirbhate (Violin) and Shri. Prafulla Kale (Tabla) have performed the accompaniment to this project. We received 10 copyrights from Government of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry for this project which are equivalent to the patent of IPR. In social sciences and performing arts this happened for the first time in the history of our university. The project is marching ahead towards the Guinness Book of World record as a magnificent activity in Music. Now, various artists are demanding to sing the songs of Geet Bheemayan in their programs. This will be a new consultancy for our University.

The salient features of Geet Bheemayan:

• Musical tribute to Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar - The great son of India, an architect of Indian constitution and emancipator of all down trodden people.
• Conceptualized by the then VC Professor B.A. Chopade.
• Happening for first time in the history of our country.
• Almost all renowned vocalists and artists of India are taking part in structuring this unique Music activity.
• Having purely academic and educational background.
• Student centric activity in which students are directly involved.
• Will broaden the area of research in Music.
• Several research topics in Music will be generated through this project.
• Having a strong Socio-Ethical-Musical bonding.
• Creating a huge Music consultancy for our University.

Copyright office, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, New Delhi have awarded 10 Copyrights for creativity of new Musical tunes of Geet Bheemayan- an Innovative, Historical and Magnificent Music Project. This happened for first time in the history of our University.
